Are your kids happy that Abby Sunderland is alive and safe?

Abby Sunderland is believed to be approximately 500 miles north of the Antarctic Islands on her bid to become the youngest to circumnavigate the globe in a sailboat. My kids were so relieved to hear that.|||I'm glad she is alive. I'm always glad when children are found alive. My daughter is too young to understand and if she was older I doubt I would want her following a story of irresponsible parents who let a teen do such a thing alone. My step-dad was a Marine, hes owned boats all his life, he loves to be on the open ocean, but he wouldn't try to do what she did alone... he has a brain, unlike her parents.





So who is mailing her parents the bill for her rescue? They should pay for it in full before the next set of idiots send their kid thousands of miles from home with no supervision and expect fame and a free ride home.|||My daughter didn't know she was in danger, neither did I. Actually, I had never heard of her before yesterday. I'm glad she's not dead, and in case you didn't hear, her bid is over. Her yacht has no mast, she's headed home.





What did not thrill me is that Australians are going to have to pay for the rescue effort. I think Americans should reimburse them. We're talking millions of dollars.





EDIT: Wonder who gave me a TD on that. Bet it wasn't an Australian citizen. Sorry, but if you let your people engage in foolhardy activities, why should someone else have to pay to save their sorry souls?|||Yes I am. But what kind of crazy, idiotic parents would let their child sail around the world alone? I think they should be charged with child endangerment or something. Kids are such attention-whores nowadays, and they will try anything to get it.|||my kids couldn't care less about her personally... but if they knew that a 16 yr old was lost at sea then yes, they too would have been relieved to hear she was ok... the same as any other situation involving a child...

The phrase 'more money than sense' springs to mind.|||I think the Parents should be charged with child endangermant. she is 16 and they let her navagate the globe?|||i'm an adult and I'm glad she was found -she will have some adventure to tell her kids|||My kids have no interest in her at all. She's not Miley Cyrus or Miranda Cosgrove, therefore they don't care about her.|||my kids have no interest at all. sure, her being safe is important.
